Doug Currie
Three-year term, ending June 2009


Doug is the Operating Manager of Currie Engineering Associates, PLC of Polk City.  Prior to that he was Vice President of ACI Mechanical in Ames, where he worked for 25 years before joining the consulting engineering profession.  He graduated from Odebolt-Arthur High School in 1971 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1975 from Iowa State University.  He and his wife, Mitzi, have lived in the country north of Polk City since 1987.  They have four children.  Angela graduated from North Polk in 2000, Jeffrey graduated from North Polk in 2003, Brian graduated in 2006, and Colin is in North Polk’s class of 2010.

Doug served on the North Polk school board for 12 years, retiring in 2005.  He has served on many District Committees, focusing on what was best for all North Polk students.  He has coached North Polk students in youth league baseball, football, and basketball, and is a tireless advocate for the music programs at North Polk.  He has served as Administrative Council chairperson for the Polk City United Methodist Church and is currently a Trustee there.  He also served as the school board’s liaison to the Polk City Chamber of Commerce for many years, and has served on the City of Ames’ Mechanical Board of Appeals.  He joined the North Polk Schools Foundation Board in 2006.
