Charlene Nelson Vukovich
Three-year term, ending June 2009
Charlene is a 1969 graduate of North Polk. After participating in several sports, activities, and clubs at North Polk, Charlene went on to earn a BA in Education from Simpson College and a MS in Education from ISU. Her first teaching job was at Central Dallas of Minburn. After 4 years there, Charlene moved to West Des Moines and spent 29 years, serving in three different buildings at various intermediate grade levels. Most recently, she was a sixth grade teacher at Westridge. Last year, Charlene was fortunate to take early retirement after 33 years of public school teaching.
Charlene’s husband, Mark, is in business in Ankeny, and their daughter, Kate, is a junior at Valley High School in West Des Moines. Charlene & Mark spend family time following Kate’s activities, traveling, reading, biking, and taking part in the many activities and events offered in the Des Moines metro area.
